Top 3 Banking & Fintech Apps by User Satisfaction
WISE leads Norway's satisfaction ranking, achieving an APS score of 60.6 and becoming the only app in the survey to reach the Solid performance category.

October 2026 survey overview
The Product Opportunity
Norway's banking and fintech sector has a clear product challenge: close the gap between digital functionality and user satisfaction.
The opportunity is not simply to build more features, but to eliminate everyday friction, make essential financial interactions effortless, and turn reliability into a competitive advantage.
The next generation of fintech winners will be defined not just by what their apps can do, but by how users feel when using them.
These results demonstrate that stronger user satisfaction is achievable even in a market where the average experience remains inconsistent.
Key Metrics
Norway's banking and fintech apps face a significant user satisfaction challenge. The October 2026 survey, based on more than 6,854 valid responses across 20 mobile apps, reveals an industry struggling to turn digital adoption into consistently positive user experiences.
The APS from Cassuarina Labs measures user satisfaction through qualitative survey feedback, translating respondents' experiences and perceptions into a standardized 0–100 score.
Norway's average APS score of 29 places the market in the Vulnerable performance category, characterized by weak user sentiment, frequent complaints, and limited retention potential. The findings suggest that digital availability alone is not enough: reliability, usability, and customer trust are critical to building lasting satisfaction.
A Market Divided Between Loyalty and Frustration
Based on aggregated survey responses and qualitative comments across all 20 apps, the industry-wide satisfaction distribution reveals a striking imbalance:
36.3% Love It: Positive experiences remain a minority of overall feedback, indicating opportunities to strengthen user loyalty.
39.9% Frustrated: The largest satisfaction category highlights substantial friction across the market.
7.7% Very Disappointed: A further segment signals dissatisfaction that could undermine long-term engagement.
Together, the two negative categories account for 47.6% of qualitative feedback, exceeding the Love It category by 11.3 percentage points.
The message for fintech product teams is clear: reducing frustration may offer a more immediate competitive advantage than expanding features.
The Benchmark for Competitive Performance
To stand out in Norway's banking and fintech app ecosystem, developers should look beyond the market average and target stronger satisfaction benchmarks:
APS Score Benchmark: 51.4
FANS% Benchmark: 63%
CRITICS% Benchmark: 27%
These reference metrics provide a practical framework for evaluating competitive positioning, identifying satisfaction gaps, and prioritizing improvements that can convert dissatisfied users into loyal advocates.
Performance Distribution: A Market With Room to Improve
The distribution of APS scores across the 20 evaluated apps reinforces the industry's challenges.
Nine apps fall into the Severely Vulnerable category, representing 45% of the market sample. Another three are classified as Vulnerable, while two are Underperforming and three are Developing.
Only three apps reach the Moderate or Solid performance categories: two Moderate and one Solid. None achieves Strong, High Performance, or Excellence status.
This concentration in lower satisfaction categories creates a clear opening for innovation. Apps that consistently deliver dependable transactions, intuitive navigation, and effective support have an opportunity to differentiate themselves in a market where positive experiences are far from universal.
